Star Tech Robotics Team 2989 Funding Request
Star Tech Robotics, a joint team between the Academy of Holy Angels and Richfield Senior High School, was established 4 years ago with the assistance of Head Mentor Jason Hall. Our first year membership totaled 21 student participants. Today Team 2989 consists of over 35 student competitors and 3 mentors. We have many volunteers assist in our metal shop as well.
Star Tech Robotics competes as part of the FIRST Robotics Competition. FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) was founded in 1992 by Dean Kamen, inventor of the Segway. The mission of FIRST is to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in exciting Mentor-based programs that build science, engineering, and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.
In FRC, students have 6 weeks to design, build and improve a robot. This short time period flies by so quickly with so many tasks to be done. The process of going from a kit of parts and a blank sheet of paper to a completed robot participating in competitions is long and stressful, yet the benefits from FRC go far beyond just a robot. FRC gives students exposure to engineering, technical design, business management, marketing and many more skills that can be used throughout their lives.
One of the most effective ways one can support Team 2989 is through financial support. Robots do not come cheap. There are significant costs for both the competition and two demonstration robots as well as costs for tools, safety supplies, competition fees, transportations, and team merchandise. In return for monetary support Star Tech offers many sponsor benefits such as advertising on the competition robot, team uniforms and website. These benefits are based on sponsorship levels associated with the amount donated. Donations of parts, discounts and assistant mentor volunteering is also highly appreciated.
Any support offered will help and enrich Star Tech’s ability to teach students about the new opportunities available in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics and prepare them for futures in these fields. Your investment in Star Tech is truly an investment in your future. Please do not hesitate to contact us. Thank you for your interest in Star Tech Team 2989. We look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Star Tech Robotics Team 2989
